Featured Client : Marina Del Rey Hospital

Marina Del Rey Hospital is a privately owned community hospital. Their mission is to provide compassionate, high quality healthcare for residents of West Los Angeles and to be nationally recognized for medical excellence in spine, orthopedics, surgical weight loss, minimally invasive surgery, non-invasive cardiology and general acute medical care.

Mark S. Miller, Director of Business Development, spoke to us recently about his vision for incorporating yoga at the hospital and offering it to the community at large.

Why did you decide to start a Yoga Program?

Our vision is one based in serving the local community with health education and wellness activities that support our healing cause.  We want to be more than a local hospital; we strive to keep our patients well and return them to healthy actively as soon as possible. Free community yoga classes fit perfectly with our vision for our hospital, and Chakra 5 was the obvious partner.

Why did you decide to partner with Chakra 5?

We spent a lot of time investigating the various options to deliver community yoga, and no other organization had the experience and understanding of employer-based wellness programs like Chakra 5.  Through their mobile yoga model, Chakra 5 could immediately and efficiently deliver our vision of yoga for all right here at Marina Del Rey hospital for a very reasonable price.

Tell us how the yoga classes have been going and the benefits the students are experiencing?

Our yoga classes have been growing over time with many new, local participates over the past few weeks.  Once the weather warms up and we start our marketing campaign, I am confident we will fill the South Lawn at Marina Del Hospital with yoga devotees.  We appreciate Chakra 5’s support and commitment to our program and look forward to many years together. Employees that have attended are sharing the benefits of greater flexibility, less lower back pain, and a greater sense of balance with their fellow employees.  The positive employee feedback has been our most effective marketing activity.

Marina Del Rey’s Free Community Yoga Classes are offered every Tuesday from 5:30pm-6:30pm and are generally held on the front lawn if weather permits. Check in at the front desk to be sure. They are located at 4650 Lincoln Blvd, between Mindanao and Bali Way and you will receive parking validation.
